Seasons of Change

As we start to head towards the Autumn of the year I think it is appropriate that I am going through this big change. Moving forward this site will be a blog dedicated to the theory and practice of counseling, art therapy, eco-therapy and mindfulness. My business is undergoing a rebranding process. It has been in the works for over a year. All content related to my private practice can be found on cultivating-consciousness.com. Over the next few months I will make sure to post links back to that site at the top of all blog posts.

Moving forward this will be simply be a place were fellow therapist, other mental health professionals and students can find information on the active practice of therapy. Or at least the way I do it.

This will also be a place where I can process the development my private practice as I undertake the next step in growing my practice. Where I can explore the challenges of burn out, inspiration, cultural impacts, ethics, and all the other things that come up on the day to day in the life of a therapist. I warn you that this will be more of a raw ‘off the cuff’ blog. What I mean is that I will not be utilizing any outside proof reading, it will only be me double checking the work. The reason I feel the need to say something is that I am significantly learning disabled, I have ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia. I will likely cover how my disabilities impact me, better and worse, as a therapist.

I am a humanist, and I hold true to the belief that everyone is able, with the appropriate supports and understanding, to cultivate wellbeing and balance that will allow them to live their lives to their full potential. What that potential is is unique for each person, what appropriate supports are unique to each person, we all need different things to be successful. I need a lot of help with executive functioning, grammar, and spelling. The challenge with that is that those things are not always easy to come by and can impede how often I post. So for this blog I am allowing myself to show up with rough edges, occasional misspelled and misused words, and trust that anyone reading this will be kind in their thoughts.

If you are offended by poor grammar and poor spelling, I suggest for your own mental health not to read further.

But, If you are interested in my observations and insight on how we as mental health providers are going to make our way in this world, then you are most welcome to tag along.
